What this quote is trying to say is that you are never guaranteed to win, it is obvious that you're going to win some and lose some. You are not bound to win, but that doesn't mean you can't stay true to yourself. You should always stay true to yourself in wins and losses. You should always be there for anyone that is doing the right things, but you should get away from a person who doesn't make good decisions. If you don't stay away from the people that do wrong, then it can lead you to make bad decisions as well. For example, when you do something you shouldn't, you shouldn't lie to yourself. You should be honest and true to yourself. You should be with the people who always do their homework and make good decisions overall. For example my friends are all people who make good decisions and that's why i stick to them. If a person offers you to smoke or drink with them that's when you know that you should go your separate way and stay away from them.
