Student Success Statement Gordon B. Hinckley

                Student Success Statement

"Education is the latchkey to success in life."

                                            Gordon B. Hinckley

I think this statement means that when you have an education you will be very successful in life. Sometimes when people don't get an education in the future they will end up having a bad job that doesn't pay very well. When you get an education you will be successful and will have a good job. it is the key to success. Education helps you go farther in your life and it will make your future brighter.

Ophthalmologist

Ophthalmologist
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ophthalmologists are physicians who specialize in the treatment of eye disorders and diseases. They treat vision problems and write prescriptions for both pharmaceuticals and corrective eyeglass lenses. When necessary, they perform eye surgery. Most ophthalmologists are in private practice, however some are employed by hospitals or clinics, and others perform research.
Average Salary: $90,000-$150,000
Educational Requirements:
Only physicians may study to become ophthalmologists. After completing medical school and an internship, an ophthalmologist must then complete a three to five year residency in an approved ophthalmologist program. After completing their residency program they must pass an examination to be certified.

Reflection: Do you would like to be one? Why or why not?
I wouldn’t like to be an ophthalmologist because I would not trust myself to touch someone’s eye knowing I may hurt them. To conduct eye surgery, or any type of surgery, you would have to have a steady hand and I, in most cases, do not have a steady hand. If I would to be able to get over the fear of hurting someone’s eye by accident I would probably like to be an ophthalmologist.

Student Success Statement Thomas S. Monson

Student Success Statement

“Decisions determine destiny.”
Thomas S. Monson

I think this quote means that all the decisions you make in your life can either benefit or affect your future. If you make bad decisions as a young adult, the consequences can affect your later life. If you make good decisions then there’s a big chance that you can benefit from that decision in the future. That’s why its better to make good decisions because that’s going to help you.

·     Supervising electrotherapy treatments.
·     Conducting research.
·     Leading a team of mental health care providers.

Average Salary: $90,000-$200,000

Educational Requirements: Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D. degrees

In addition to completing the requirements for a degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine, psychiatrists must complete an intensive three year residency in psychiatry.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I think I would like to be a psychiatrist because I would like to help people by giving them treatment for any problem they may have. Many people have problems and I would like to help them overcome that problem. I also like communicating with people and psychiatry is basically talking with people and trying to help them. I would like to hear their problems and figure out a way I can help them. Also this job is very well paying. This job requires educational requirements and by completing those educational requirements I could use them for another job not just specifically psychiatry.
